Wordless Wednesday (Almost) ~ Carl and Hilda Gillberg - My Swedish Immigrant Great-Grandparents

I'd like to share this special photo with you today. It's a photo of my paternal great-grandparents, Hilda Maria Carlsson and Carl Albert Gillberg. It was included in my Grandma Ingrid's blue Book of Remembrance. Underneath this photo my Grandma Ingrid wrote the following:

"My parents of to-day. I pray that our Father in Heaven will let you stay with us for many more years. If it be his will."

I don't know when Ingrid wrote these beautiful words in her Book of Remembrance, but it had to be sometime before 15 January 1956. That's the date that Hilda passed away. Carl passed away on 3 May 1963.

I'm grateful to have my Grandma Ingrid's two Books of Remembrance and the photos and documents they contain.

Wordless Wednesday (Almost) ~ Little Arthur Harry Iverson And His Wheelbarrow

How adorable is this picture? My cousin's wife this to me, along with other photos that had been stored in my aunt and uncle's home.

The cute little boy in this photo is my paternal grandfather, Arthur Harry Iverson. Thankfully, the back of the photo has his name on it and the location which is Benson, Minnesota. Unfortunately, there is no date on the back of the photo. But, I wonder if it was a bit chilly the day this photo was taken. Arthur has a hat on and is wearing long sleeves.

Check out his little wheelbarrow. And if you look closely, you can see his shovel sitting across the wheelbarrow handles. I wonder if he was helping with yard work. So sweet!

Wordless Wednesday (Almost) ~ Edna Lillie Webster

Edna Lillie Webster

This adorable little girl is Edna Lillie Webster. She was the second child born to my maternal great-grandparents, Watson (Frederick) Emory Webster and Esther Matus Villatoro. You may know Watson as "The Traveling Dentist" here on my blog.

Edna Lillie was born in September 1912 in Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil. This photo of her was taken in 1916 in Curitiba, Brazil. Sadly, little Edna Lillie did not survive to adulthood. Until recently, I didn't know exactly when or where she passed away. I will share these new findings in a future post.

Wordless Wednesday (well, almost) ~ Watson Emory Webster as a Child

This is a photo of my great-grandfather, Watson Emory (Frederick) Webster, as a child.  My regular readers may know that I affectionately refer to him as "The Traveling Dentist." 

I'm not sure how old Watson was at the time this photo was taken.  He was born on February 14, 1864 in Coolville, Athens, Ohio.  So, what would be your guess?  How old do you think Watson was in this photo?

Wordless Wednesday (well, almost) ~ Mary Crary Boggess

Yesterday I shared photos of James and Eunice (Waterman) Crary's tombstone.  Today I want to share a photo of one of their daughters.

This is Mary Crary, my 1st cousin 3 times removed.  I absolutely love this photo of Mary!  She was the fourth child of James and Eunice (Waterman) Crary.  This photograph was in the photo album that belonged to my 2nd great-grandmother, Cynthia Maria (Waterman) Webster.

Mary Crary was born on August 3, 1851 in New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.  She married Taylor Nimrod Boggess on December 25, 1873 in Meigs County, Ohio.

Taylor and Mary were the parents of four children.

1. Eunice Blanche Boggess (1874-1963)
2. Norman T. Boggess (1877-1901)
3. Frank Crary Boggess (1880-1941)
4. Harry Julien Boggess (1883-1898)

Mary (Crary) Boggess passed away on December 31, 1927 in Huntington, Cabell, West Virginia and was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia.

Wordless Wednesday (well, almost) ~ Nathan B. Chase – Civil War Surgeon

This photograph of Nathan B. Chase was found inside the photo album that belonged to my 2nd great-grandfather, Ebenezer Perry Carlisle Webster.  Ebenezer served in the Civil War.

From what I can tell, the writing on the photo is as follows:

Nathan B. Chase is not an ancestor of mine.  Hopefully, one of his descendants will find this blog post so they can see this photo of Nathan.

Wordless Wednesday–E.P.C. Webster circa 1856

Fair warning…this will not be exactly wordless….

This is a photo of my 2nd great-grandfather, Ebenezer Perry Carlisle Webster.  Don’t you just love that bow tie?!

Ebenezer was a Civil War veteran.  I wrote about him in a previous post titled Tombstone Tuesday–Ebenezer Perry Carlisle Webster.

This photo of Ebenezer was taken when he was 18 years old, or about the year 1856, just a few short years before the start of the Civil War.

Wordless Wednesday–Sarah Vasques Madeira

Sarah Vasques Madeira

This is Sarah Vasques Madeira, my maternal grandmother.  Unfortunately I never knew her as she died on 14 July 1942 in Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil.  She was born on 23 February 1900 in Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.  She was the wife of my grandfather, Debs Warren Webster, whose briefcase I wrote about in a previous post.  She was also the daughter-in-law to my "Traveling Dentist" Great-Grandpa Frederick Webster, of whom I’ve written several blog posts.

More about Sarah in a future post.  (Yes, yes, I know, this wasn’t wordless was it?  I just can’t seem to stick to the “wordless” rule on these.)

Wordless Wednesday–Shark Anyone??

Looks like my Great-Grandpa Dr. Frederick Webster (The Traveling Dentist) not only pulled teeth out of people’s mouths, he pulled sharks out of the water too!  Actually, I’m not sure how that shark got there, or who caught it.  But that sounds like a good fish story right?

By the way, that isn’t Frederick Webster next to the shark.  The back of the picture says it’s Antonio Zeferino Nasiso.



Here’s another shot of the catch.  Frederick Webster is to the left of the shark this time.

P.S.  Ya, I know...this post isn't exactly "wordless" is it?

Wordless Wednesday - A Picture from the Photo Boat

This is a picture of Cynthia Maria Waterman, taken on the Photo Boat belonging to her son, Frederick Emory Webster.  You remember him don't you?  He is my great-grandfather, the "traveling dentist" you met in my previous posts. Cynthia was born on May 21, 1836 in Coolville, Athens, Ohio and died on September 22, 1895 in Marysville, Marshall, Kansas. Her parents were Asher Waterman and Bathsheba Paulk.
