  5. Jana, glad to see you posted some articles on awards and SEO. Timely subject, and something we all as a community need to think through. Awards are fun...but time consuming to participate in. The question of hidden agendas adds a dark side to the mix.

At any rate, we as a blogging community don't need to wait for a prompt to "award" recognition to those we appreciate. You do it every Friday! :)

The rest of us can certainly follow suit in whatever manner best fits each of our own blogs.

    1. Hi Jacqi,

Yes, I've struggled with the whole awards thing myself. I'm very flattered and thankful for the recognition but as you said, there's the time involved in paying the honor forward. Plus, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by not recognizing their blog. And then there's the potential SEO problem too.

So, yes, I think it may be time for the genealogy blogging community to think through the topic of blog awards.

Thank you for your comments Jacqi!

  7. G'day Jana, thanks so much for mentioning my post "TO AWARD OR NOT TO AWARD???..." This is both a huge surprise and a great honour. I'm sure you're not aware that your "Wonderful Team Readership Award" initially came from me :-) in that after receiving it from J.G.Burdette, I passed it onto Yvonne up there in Canada, and she passed it onto you. Such a small world, eh? You can read about it on this link: http://caiteile.com/2013/01/03/wonderful-team-member-readership-award-nominations/ Thanks again... Best of wishes, Catherine.

  8. Jana, you are most obviously a great reader of more than my blog! I stopped by to let you know that I've given you the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award. I forgot that you'd already received it. I suppose this means you don't have to write another post about it, just accept my gratitude for your continued support in both reading and commenting on my blog posts. (You can read my post at http://nancysfamilyhistoryblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-favorite-award-to-give.html if you'd like.)
